Tips for Table Hosts

How do I host/organize a table?

Filling your table is easy!

  • Invite friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, or whomever else you think would enjoy the Oscar® Party.
  • The best invitation is a personal invitation so consider inviting them in person, by telephone or via email.
  • Start now! The Oscars® will be here before you know it, and everybody’s calendars fill up fast!

Why should my friends, family, and colleagues attend?

To have a great time! Let them know that this Oscar® Party isn’t only going to be the most fabulous in Austin history, but it will support the work of the Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival and The Paul Kirby Emergency Fund at AIDS Services of Austin.*

aGLIFF, the oldest and largest LGBT film festival in the Southwest is celebrating its 23rd year supporting and showcasing the best of LGBT film, new media, and digital art. With programs like the Queer Youth Media Project, a partnership with Out Youth, aGLIFF is more than a film festival; it has grown to be a provider of educational programming to all of Central Texas. And by supporting aGLIFF, you are in turn helping us support the work of LGBT filmmakers, artists, and performers from all over the world.

The Paul Kirby Emergency Fund at AIDS Services of Austin is a bridge fund to assist needy persons living with HIV/AIDS in Central Texas, when other resources and benefits are exhausted or in the process of application. It supplies money for food, rent, utilities, life-giving medications, transportation, eyeglasses and other necessities of life. The Octopus Club is an all-volunteer group that serves as a fund-raising arm to benefit the Paul Kirby Fund.

Besides making a positive impact on two of Austin’s nonprofits, the party will feature a red carpet antics hosted by Rebecca Havemeyer and Mocha Jean Herrup, quiet viewing rooms, delicious movie concessions, and prizes. The raffle includes packages with products from Austin’s leading retailers and personalities, including travel, artwork, and one of-a-kind experiences. This is a must-attend event that will have you and your friends walking away from the evening not only smiling, but knowing that you’ve made an impact in Austin.

*This is an AGLIFF event, however AGLIFF will donate a generous portion of the proceeds to The Paul Kirby Emergency Fund at AIDS Services of Austin. The Octopus Club is a fundraising arm of ASA, benefiting the Paul Kirby Fund.
