aGLIFF PROGRAMS
Ongoing aGLIFF Programs that serve The LGBTQ Community

aGLIFF’s core value is to serve the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning) communities by providing programs that develop LGBTQ awareness.

aGLIFF’s Queer Youth Media Project
QYMP provides a platform for LGBTQ youth to discover the art of filmmaking, build their LGBTQ youth community and address at-risk issues; discrimination and suicide. The QYMP offers leadership skills, encourages artistic expression, offers involvement in real world issues, facilitates relationships between youth and the community, develops community and civic skills, and engages youth from different cultures and backgrounds.

aGLIFF’s My Queer Movie Project
The My Queer Movie Competition provides a vehicle for young LGBTQ filmmakers to break into the industry and gain awareness for their projects. My Queer Movie Competition showcased thirteen selected short film projects from all over the nation to screen in front of the aGLIFF festival audience.

aGLIFF’s Filmmaker Assistance Program
aGLIFF devotes our resources to independent artists through the Filmmaker Assistance Program. This program assists LGBTQ filmmakers with building community partnerships, assisting with film agency exposure and providing filmmakers with personalized professional resources for their projects.

aGLIFF’s Family Screening Program
Our Family Screening Program focuses on providing film screenings and community building for LGBTQ families. AGLIFF is dedicated through this program to give families the opportunity to build LGBTQ family awareness and support.

aGLIFF’s Dedication to The Austin Community
aGLIFF strives to build better relationships with other nonprofits in the Austin area. We believe cohesion will lead to lower costs and better outreach for all nonprofits. To that end, we provided Family By Choice, PFLAG, and Austin School of Film to have free Community Sponsorship publicity at our film festival screenings. We also partnered with AIDS Services of Austin, Equality Texas, Hill Country Ride for AIDS, The Mamma Jamma Ride and Out Youth on cross-promotional efforts and sponsorships at our festival.

It is a priority of aGLIFF to utilize local businesses to partner with and support local business in Austin, Texas. aGLIFF chooses all locally owned theaters, event spaces and rental companies to do business with to give back to local business owners and promote the City of Austin.
